Abstract

Paikallinen kokemusperäinen tieto sekä ympäristöön liittyvät arvot ovat tärkeä osa yhdyskuntasuunnittelua. Paikallisen kokemustiedon käyttö osana maankäytön suunnitteluprosesseja voi edesauttaa ekosysteemien, luonnonvarojen ja biodiversiteetin suojelua sekä tuoda esiin paikallisten asukkaiden tarpeita, huolia ja toiveita. Ympäristöön liitetyt arvot ja merkitykset ovat myös tärkeä osa ihmisen luontosuhdetta ja kokemusta elinympäristöstään. Paikallinen kokemustieto ja ympäristöön liitetyt arvot liittyvät usein toisiinsa, sillä paikkoihin kytkeytyvät muistot, kokemukset ja havainnot tuottavat erilaisia aineettomia ympäristöarvoja.
