Abstract

Logomo was built in Turku for the various purposes of the Cultural Capital Year in 2011. After this the
building has been developed into a versatile center that includes a music hall, a theater, a restaurant, an
office for creative industries and studios for artists. The building itself represents a strategy in which old
industrial buildings are converted for cultural purposes. In this article, I examine how space is produced
in the studios of artists and in the office area of creative industries. I use the idea of relational space to
examine interactions taking place in different spaces. Additionally, by using the concept of institutional
space, it is possible to study the practices and regulations that affect the use of those spaces. The article
illustrates how people are re-making institutional space and what kind of practices and interrelationships
between different actors are producing spaces.
